Not every problem needs a tow. A dead battery on a cold January morning, a flat on the shoulder of 6th Avenue, or keys locked in the car at Sloan's Lake can often be fixed where the car sits.
Common roadside requests
- Jump starts. Denver's cold snaps are hard on older batteries, and a jump gets many cars to a parts store or shop.
- Flat tire changes. Swapping on your spare, or a tow to a tire shop if the spare is missing or flat too.
- Lockouts. Opening the vehicle so you can get your keys. Have ID and registration handy, since the operator needs to know the car is yours. If a child or pet is locked inside, call 911.
- Fuel delivery. Enough gas to get you to the nearest station.

Winter driving and the mountains
Colorado's traction law applies on I-70 in the mountain corridor when conditions call for it, and cars that spin out or slide off often need help getting back on the road. If you head west, carry a blanket, water, a phone charger and a working spare.
Roadside help is quoted by the operator before dispatch. If a fix on the spot is not possible, the same request can become a tow.
